HI ALL,
ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT ( PARDON THE PUN ) ON RCD PROTECTION FOR BATHROOM CIRCUITS DOMESTIC/HOTELS ETC FOR PERIODIC TESTING,AS I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT ALL BATHROOM CIRCUITS REQUIRE RCD PROTECTION !
THERE SEEMS TO BE A BIG DEBATE AT MY WORK AS IF THIS APPLIES TO BATHROOMS IF THE PIPES,LIGHTS,SHAVER POINTS ETC ARE BONDED WITH > 2.5MM CABLE THAT THIS DOES NOT APPLY ? OR THE ONLY CIRCUIT IN THERE IS LOW VOLTAGE LIGHTING ?BUT HAVE FOUND NO REF TO THIS ANYWHERE,THE COMPANY HAS TRIED TO PUT AN END TO THIS DEBATE FINALLY AS WE ARE ALL GETTING A BIT ****** OFF WITH IT AND PHONED THE NIC TWICE TO BE TOLD NO RCD IS NOT REQUIRED AND THEN YES THAT IT DOES ON ALL BATHROOM CIRCUITS ?

ANY HELP PLEASE !!!!!!!!

It is required on all circuits within a bath/shower room....supplementary bonding may be ommited if RCD protection is in place and other conditions are met....If a PIR is being carried out on a pre-17th install lack of RCD protection to a bath/shower room would be a code 4.....The relevant regs are in section 7 of the BRB...701.411.3.3....701.415.2

Agree with code 4.
If you ring the helpline and say "are rcd's required on all bathroom circuits then, quite correctly, the answer is 'yes'.

The reg's are not retrospective so that's why the code 4 is applied.

No to all. Also would require a means of isolation for PIV - pulling a fuse wouldn't be acceptable. I don't mean to seem disrespectful, but this...
