hi all,
if the main consumer unit is protected with a RCCB 80A 30mA, and the circuit has only a MCB, can i consider the sockets on the installation to be RCD protected as required by the new regs?
cheers !

Yes its protected, however i think you need to consider that the new regs also require that you split the ccts so that if the RCD/RCCB is tripped then not all the ccts are effected, hence the new twin RCD split boards.

My advise is if money is not an issue, either change the board to comply, or change the RCCB to a normal main switch and use RCBO's on all ccts (I prefer RCBO's if i can get them in), this does cost a lot tho.

Money and time is usually an issue ( if your only doing very little work) so I think you could just leave things as they are as long as your not adding or changing loads or stuff.

if your just doing a periodic then mark it up as a No 4, and still call it satisfactory.

Hope my rambling helps!:D
