(i think code 2...
but could it be c3 (not compliant with current regs)

You can't go round giving C2's to ALL the houses without RCD protection on the lights.

If anything its a C3

The most I would give that on its own, assuming no other problems having an impact on it, is C3

irrelevant. metal fittings without a cpc would be a code C2 , but if the installation was pre 2008, the 522 6.101 did not apply , so the most you can give is a C3 for lack of RCD.

he couls always get a job with british gas. anything done to 16th is an instant C1, new CU necessary.

There's one round my way, calls himself Bradbury Electrical. He's fresh out of college, can't be older than about 20, and drives a liveried up van with 'testing and inspection specialist' written all over it. Amongst other blunders, this kid C1s 6mm bonding conductors on 60A TN-S systems. I've yet to bump into this clown in the wholesalers but I look forward to the day I do!
