Can anyone clear this one up, does a supply cable serving a car park barrier need RCD protection. The cable (Tuffened Flex type) has been installed through a duct underground to a external car park barrier control adjacent the barrier. I would say it is good pratice to install 30mA RCD protection to the cable as it leaves the supply DB and hits the duct. I am being told no RCD to the circuit. Could anyone put this one to bed, if it does require RCD protection could you supply a regs number to prove the point.

Cheers

If it's surface mounted from the DB to the duct I wouldn't be putting it on an RCD, putting it in a bit of earthed galv tube maybe for mechanical protection.
