Rcd trips out for no reason, sometimes it could be over 2 weeks before it might do it again. I can't find out what is doing it, I was told you can get a 30 sec timed delay rcd to sort it out, but Iam not sure what consumer unit we have. It has a logo on the front which is a circle with a triangle coming out of the right side of it?. Does anyone know what's it's called and if these timed delay rcd's are any good. Thanks for your time.

If the RCD is for additional protection then a time delayed version is not an option.
IMO you need to find out what is causing the problem and not try to overcome it by other methods.
You need to get the circuits tested by a qualified spark to find out the cause.

I think the make of your board is contactum but that does not really matter at this point. You have 1 of 2 problems, either there is a fault in your installation or you have a faulty rcd. Either way you needan electrician in to test and find the fault. A time delayed RCD is not an option. Never take advice from the person who told you that.

Time delayed Rcd's are only for use when descrimination is required, ie, 2 rcd's on one circuit.

the make of board that you have is a brand called "Control Gear"

It is a cheap brand and it is very possible that the Rcd is just faulty. However comprehensive tests need to be carried out to determine IR values, Phase, N and CPC continuity and Earth loop impedence. also a visual inspection of componets and terminations. only then can a accurate assesment be made.

If you dont feel confident to complete this amount of inspection and testing then i would suggest calling in a reputable local spark.

Thanks to all who have replied, we did have 2 outside lights and one of them had water intrusion so I disconnected it 3 weeks ago, the rcd has been ok since, not sure if that cured it as we have only just got back from holiday, but the electric was still on. I will see how we get on in the next couple of weeks. By the way it is made by Control Gear, thanks High Tower.
