rcd tripping on a ring main

Ok help before a pull out the rest of my hair got an rcd that trips when ring main breaker turned on got continuity but still trips when only live connected ant ideas

As the OP has disconnected the CPC and neutrals and the RCD is still tripping then logically there is a fault to earth on the line conductor.

This could either be a direct wiring fault such as damage insulation allowing contact with a back-box. Also reversed polarity on an appliance could cause the trip.

Stop repeating yourself, sign of old age.

Could still be a neutral to earth fault......his cct neutral would have been at line potential as he had it disconnected from supply neutral lol.

Due to no reponses.......I imagine he has thrown the RCD'S in the bin, took the money and wheelspan off the driveway into the sunset!!!

A bit drastic don't you think.:tongue::tongue::tongue:

I'd try IR between all 6 conductors bunched in one crock clip and all the other conductors in the installation, checking cpcs first.

Does it trip if you only connect that circuit whilst having all other conductors disconnected or isolated?
