Just another question. When i disconnect the old "kitchen ring" to run in a new one for the positions of new kitchen i was told that one of the two sockets in the conservatory was not working and one socket in the hall. Do you think it would be down to me and at my expense to get the two sockets back working even thoughit was wrong in the first place coming off the kitchen ring. What would you guys do ?

thanks

Paul

Your customer wants a freebe why should you pay for anything that wrong in his property if he want to be a diy expert or use cowboys thats his choice if he is not willing to pay walk away.

Tricky.

Firstly, there is nothing wrong with sockets spurring from anywhere provided it is done correctly.

As for you sorting it out.

Personally, i probably would, as this could be a good customer for the future, and to be honest, there sould be enough in the job to cover little hiccups like this.

But thats all IMHO and how i play it. :)

Just had this very prob this week.

Well if it was definately down to what you have done, then I know I would.;)

Agreed with the last two posts, before disconnecting the circuit, I'd always find out what it turns off. We're doing a kitchen refurb at the moment and this very thing cropped up and although its a quoted job of course we sorted out what ever sockets needed to remain live once we've finished alterations.

the main rule is before any work is carried out get one of those socket testers isolate said circuit then check around for any strays if not then its o no i didnt o yes you did conversations

+1 to the last few posts. Sorry to say it, but its definatley down to you to get them working again, I wouldnt be too happy with a spark that leaves my house with things not working. The only way I could see you could argue the ---- would be if it was something dodgy, like a socket being wired off a cooker, or shower (happened to me once). Nothing wrong with wiring the conservatory off the kitchen, not withstanding spurs off spurs etc.

Also to the strict letter of the law you should be removing the redundant wiring and would therefore know if you've disconnected the sockets! Cos we all do that don't we!
I'd sort it out too, word of mouth and all that.;)
