Pic #2 is minimum 10mm, touching both sides of the YT2. 16mm dose not fit in YT2 flat like that. Looks like it may be for the shower???

Looks interesting, is it just hard to handle or a pain to terminate? or both!

You need about 30% extra length for the run to account for the required sag. The big stuff is usually used on cranes so how do you get it up there is the first problem. The first ones I installed were three 70mm[SUP]2[/SUP] flatforms 4c in parallel about 70’ in the air. I’m not going in to how we did it here. It was fun to setup but it was also safe.

As for making it off it’s not bad. A new Stanley knife blade and plenty of spit to lubricate the cut works for me. Anything slippy that can get on the body of the knife avoid like the plague. With the knife just take gentle cuts going deeper each time. You have to cut perpendicular to the core. I have the Tyzak version of the Stanley knife where the blade length is adjusted with a screw so you can gauge the cut precisely.

I should add, you can no longer get the Tyzak knife due I suppose to the HSE. The blade doesn’t readily retract.

Tyzak are a blast from the past! Ive still got a couple of their stainless plastering trowels, everyone else was buying marshalltown with the rubber handles but a couple of old school spreads I knew swore by Tyzak for the quality of the steel and the beech handle.

Can't see it being a HSE issue as you can still buy a fixed blade Stanley knife, shame they don't make them as they sound a good idea for stripping lots of different cable types I'd imagine

Tyzak is still going but I can’t find the knife. I had a look for one recently for a friend who’s a carpet fitter. He borrowed mine while he laid the new carpet in the lounge. I had to watch him like a hawk, it kept vanishing in his pocket.

Whilst on topic of rough work in; I came across this a while back in a void property we were sent to do a periodic on before being re-let. Absolutely ridiculous. For the record, the company I work for were not involved in the initial installation...Obviously the fuse was pulled and the DNO contacted who surprisingly came out within an hour.

This improvised fuse was suppling a combi boiler.


And this was what was in store for us at the CU.

Cheers for posting that. Scary stuff! Presumably the DNO came out within the hour due to theft of electricity, rather than unsafe installation. It's a bit like CPS companies and mis-use of logos. They know where their priorities lie...
