Hey guys,

So there's a house that needs a re-wire after it burnt down. The most probable cause is glis glis chewing the cables. I've previously had to rewire a house with the same rodent issue and did it in FP as the metal sheathing would hopefully stop the rodents chewing through the cable. Does anyone have any experience with this issue and any suggestions other than FP cable?

Cheers.

Agree with baddegg - reduce the problem to zero and that leaves you with no problem . . . mon!
Get em exterminated then seal all holes so the buggers don’t come back.
Another solution is what @buzzlightyear did and put the floorboards back down with a cat under the floor - at least it’ll have something to eat!

My father in law has been sealing the holes in his house for the last 30 years and the rats still get in.

Cable in containment where there's high risk of Roland wanting a snack.

Not rats though, S.....door mice.
Believe it or not, they were a Roman delicacy (Glis glis).....maybe that's why they invaded us, Claudius loved 'em with his chips.....but the rats in Rome had eaten them all.

The OP said the property burnt down,so starting from scratch, would give good opportunity to "proof" everything.

Glis Glis = click click = bang bang

Signal crayfish and knotweed, got looked after for longer than they needed...

No idea about door mice but rats don't like ducts filled with wire wool or metal shavings. Just use decent quality wire wool or if you know someone who works in a machine shop get the spirally metal stranded swarf. I guess it must play up their fillings !
