Any other installers gone with this? It's another expense I could do without at the moment but if it's worth being a part of then I'd consider it.

Do you mean REAL or REA? two are different.

Real is a office of fair trading scheme which all MCS installers need (Or equivalent) They have requirements on how to handle deposits and not miss selling etc. Fill in the form and send off with the cheque and a certificate arrives in the post. Don't really know how they police it think its secret shoppers or alike.

REA is a organisation representing renewable organisations. Not needed to start with but will add another logo to your stationary latter on. I would worry about shelling out on stuff that isn't needed straight away.

Thanks Mark. I think we'll do that. I'll see how things go for 6 months and look at the REA at a later date. Of all the different ventures I've undertaken to get more work as an electrician, PV has been by far the most expensive and it can be tricky not lot let the costs run away.

Very true! If there's one thing that stands out with PV it could be a bit of a money pit!

We are still looking into different items and ideas and I think we will continue to do so. It's just a matter of as and when. I thought it better to get some installs under our belt and get some of the investment back before we go looking at other items.

One of our biggest ideas is advertising and I'm thinking of making a post asking what others are doing on that score. Some of the prices we have had back regarding just that have made me stand back and think mind you.

Keep the funds for something you may well not be expecting at this moment in time. There may well be tools you might need or something alike.

Looking at some of the big boys out there not all of these are with REA.

NICEIC needed my REAL number during assessment, I showed them reciept which wasent good enough, they then phoned up REAL for number during visit for confirmation, without REAL membership I wouldent have passed the MCS inspection. Dont know abut the others such as Elecsa and Napit etc.
