Hi guys

I am applying for the MCS001 and it states I have to be a member of REAL assurance, is there any alternitive? as i have alot of creditations involving consumer protection schemes. I have contacted action renewables on the matter and they state I have to be a member of REAL. Any opinions or answers would be aprecheated.

Thank you

woudnt bother stumping up cash!! spesh now tesco 4kw offer less than £9000!!plus free can of beanz:)

Cant even get hold of REA by e-mail or phone. If they cant be bothered to respond to a question, then Ill keep my cash. All I asked for was a pro-rata rate till my MCS ran out in June, after all Im sures some cash is better than no cash at all!!!

I seem to recall the MCS documentation say you must be a member of a qualifying consumer code, of which REAL is one - the implication being you could join something else, but I don't know if there are any others which qualify! In practice everyone seems to use REAL.

Did you get a reply on that question? Also interested in that strategy, alternative is to do a monthly direct debit and cancel when you want to.

We have just joined REAL scheme and have been given a pro rata rate until the end of 2011 at which time the full 2012 pymnt must be made. What number are you trying as I have got through to them on both occasions I have called? Try 02079 810850 :D

When we first signed up it was on line , as we were doing it we noticed that it was not a secure line . When we phoned up to raise the concern the bird on the end of the line pretty much says " you pays your monies you takes your chances ! "
I Thought then that theses are going to be a tremendous help to our industry !!!!!!!!!

I am not convinced REAL serves any useful purpose. On the standards side, the information it produces and prescribed methods of dealing with customers could just as easily be covered by the organisations we register for MCS with (ie Napit/NICEIC/etc). They are really a self serving organisation that harvests our customer details and then tries to sell them an insurance policy.
