Sorry, my point was that if you couldn't get a power socket into the loft you could run the cable from the inverter to the solar log through the ceiling - although ideally the solar log should be close to the inverter.
You're right you need to consider how to connect the solar log to the network either via ethernet cable or go for the slightly more expensive wifi models.
