Hi Chaps....

This one is for anyone that prices by point.

Just want see how I compare and what others are charging per down light.

I charge £38/per standard GU10 fitting any finish non IP - regardless of how many.

£3.50 a fitting £1 a jnction box and a 35p a mter of cable, bulb £1 each talking £60 for materials max so £240 for a days work sounds good to me but it probably take me two days. and still sounds good

why 2 days for some downlights?....plot your joists (to avoid em)..cable, rods..etc....2 days????

the last time and first time i done them. i marked out all joists and marked all places where wanted lights to go but as i progressed there was double joists and joist crossing for extra support so the few hours i spent marking out was a waste a time. id say next time or time after i will get all done in a day if i cot say 100mm track out all way round room, and i used junction boxes with heat resistant flex off too lights, was very time consumin if i dont say doing it yourself

The last 2 i did, i was able to get above and drill either side of joists at each end of the room. Chalk lined it all out so could see joist positions. Took a bit of time to set them out but didn't run into cutting into joists

Why didn`t you go on the apprentice framework from day one?...I am on level 2 year 2 so have the NVQ this year......but the point i was trying to get across was 2 days for some downlights seems a bit exessive.....what do you think?

blend the artex in with polyfiller.

Top tip with artex if it's the swirl pattern from a decorator mate, a sponge in a plastic bag apply artex then give it a swirl :bucktooth:

2 days seems very excessive!! how many you fitting 100???

i fitted 10 once in a customer lean to extension with no access from above and no idea where joists where!! took 3/4 of a day between 2 of us..!
