Recessing B22/E27 fittings?

Hi all. We're getting ready to convert the loft in our house, and when it's done there's not going to be much spare headroom.

With that in mind, I was wondering if there's any safe way to partially recess a standard B22 (or E27) fitting to get the maximum clearance between the bulb and my head? Would I have to make sure there's still access to the rose?

I know GU10s can be happily recessed, but I'd quite like to install some smart bulbs which don't come in a GU10 fitting.

My current thinking is to get a Trim Ring and seat a standard fitting in it.

I would fit a strip light or a led bulkhead light ....

What are you converting it to?

i'd go for GU10 downlights, or the integrated ones, such as JCC or Aurora.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm trying to avoid GU10s or similar, as I'd like ambience control and a wide beam, and I haven't yet found a smart GU10 that does that.
It's going to be an office space.

Not sure of the WAF* on those! Also the central space where the lights will go isn't going to be 600mm wide.

I really appreciate all the alternative suggestions, but what I'm really asking is if there's any reason I can't partially recess a standard bayonet fitting, whether or not that's the solution we go for.

If there's something in the regs that makes it a no-no, I'll discount that from my options and look again at some form of LED panel/strip.

If you restrict access to terminals then no, you may also restrict heat dissipation from the lamp which may result in overheating.

you could get 1 or 2 of those old fashioned downlights using reflector bulbs, but fit LED E27 or B22.

It turns out the bulbs we like have almost the exact same profile as an R63, so a downlight fixture looks like the perfect solution. Thanks all.

i have an offer for Led bulbs 10w bayonet in warm white.

The bulbs are dimmable with dimmer switch. Double-click the wall switch or an ordinary switch on a table lamp and the bulb dima to 30%.

Quality product aluminium heat sink.
