Not my department in our house, but what are everyone’s go-to brands for washing machine and tumble dryers?
Both of ours have decided to call it a day at the same time. Typical.

The dryer we have is a hotpoint, but never seems to heat properly. It’s got two heat settings, but neither are satisfactory. There is some heat, but not enough to dry anything.

I’ve had the back off several times looking for thermostats to reset, but they don’t change anything.

The washing machine is a beko…. One we had as a spare when we sold a house we were renting out. Replaced a 10 year old hotpoint. Beko is only a 7kg, so my dear wife was never happy with it.
Last weekend, it sounded like the belt was going to jump off.

So we decided we are going to change both.

Open to any make, but washer needs to be 8kg or bigger. Don’t need any fancy Wi-Fi smart features or built in coffee maker. 😁

We were sick of paying decent money for washing machines and them breaking down, so this time we went for Beko. It's given no trouble and we've had it a good few years now.

It's fairly basic, no colour touch screen or anything. But then all it has to do is heat some water up and Spon some stuff round.

We have a cheap washing machine with very fast spin and high load capacity. I won't cry when it needs to be replaced as it has long since paid for itself.

Beside it sits a very expensive (by my standards) heat pump dryer as the electricity savings over a vented dryer were unbelievable and paid for the machine in under 2 years. We put quite a few loads through both machines each week.

After having expensive washer/dryers in the past that have seemed to last 5 mins we went for a cheapish Indesit. So far it's worked well for around 3 years.

thanks all....

so basically, a machine twice the price of all the rest isnt going to last twice as long.

I believe hotpoint, indesit, zanussi are all much the same... all made in the same factory, probably.

I dont suppose having the machines in the back of the garage makes a difference to how well it works?
Its part of the house, no heating... but the boiler is in there.... an undercounter fridge, upright freezer, and several thousand lego bricks

Only appliance that may be affected by cold is a freezer. Manufacturers will tell you which are suitable for unheated rooms and which aren't.

Hoover washing machine (we have 2)as I can fix them when they break down. We have a bush tumble dryer which is still going. Managed to fix that too, usually thermostat or capacitor that breaks on that

We went for another hotpoint in both cases. Washer is 10kG drum, dryer is 8 and has a heat pump… supposedly very economical A+++

@buttler joseph , I’ve seen a few posts from you this morning… why don’t you go to the new member thread here and introduce yourself.

We’ve got beko washing machine / indesit dryer. Near the cheapest we could get. Don’t see any benefit in buying expensive branded names in appliances and none of them seem to last any longer.

Just realised this is 2 weeks old.

For engineering durability, reliability, twice daily use and an expectation of a 10 year long life we have Bosch Washer, condenser dryer and dishwasher

For reliability, value for money, once daily use and an expectation of a 5 year life we put Indesit washer-dryers in our rental flats and also have one at home for the dog’s stuff.

Bosch every time. Had dishwasher , washer and tumble dryer for over 12 years and still going strong.
