Reference methods as clear as mud. What would you guys out there put as the following. This is proving a difficult job as a whole with clients who only want min work undertaken on account of cost, and I have been in discussion with field engineer of my body who has a open mind on it. It is a circuit that supplies in priciple an outside garage. The garage has garage RCD 2 way unit with 16a and 6a MCB's suppling x 2 final circuits - a Radial feeding x 3 sockets and a motor for a auto door. and a light circuit with x3 florries and an outside PIR controled light.
The circuit and cables have been installed as follows and is a Radial circuit.
  1. From Cu there is single 2.5 T&E feeding a IP rated twin socket fixed on the outside of kitchen wall. [Route and method of install is not known]
  2. From Socket a 6mm SWA 3 core cable is clipped direct to a woodern wall to a IP rated adapatable box. about 6/7 meters away.
  3. From the IP box we then have 2.5 T&E in what i can only describe as old garden hose, and hose/ cable is clipped to woodern fence for 20 meters where it enters the garage, within the garage it is in 20mm plastic conduit to the RCD Garage Unit.

I am going to have a stab at the following Ref Method and list it as B & C As follows: As I take it that SWA and Mulity core are now classed as the same.

B for the 2.5 T&E in garden hose - as per number 5 on page 317 of the regs " Mulitcore Cable in conduit clipped to woodern wall.

and C for the SWA clipped - as per number 20 on page 318 Single or milticore [I am taking SWA as a multicore] clipped direct to woodern wall.

Replies will be interesting

Have a closer look in the BGB. T&E has its own reference methods, 101,102 and 103 if my memory serves me right. They are in a chart just after the others that you speak of.

T&E in hosepipe clipped to fences outside is not good.

Cheers..........Howard

Leeds god country??? how can that be!! you got the Devil called Neil Warnock  On a serious note believe it T&E in a black pipe conforms I am told it is bad practise but conforms as the regs do no specify what mechanical protection must be used, and the hose in effect is offering protection?? When is Golf charity Day I am off 6

just looked at the reference methods. whats the code for a cable buried in the wall, not enclosed by any conduits? lots and lots of domestic been wired like that, anyway back to the subject, i would put ABCD 103 not to miss anything :)
