I'm so cheesed off that I'd be taking a timed photograph and sending it to MCS, REAL and anyone else I could think of. It's a breach of H & S never mind anything else - it's wrong :-(

it seems as though the hoops we will now have to jump through for EPC make all this prohibitive for a one man band or small company. As has been said before, all this stuff seems to favour the bigger companies who are in a position to offer the full package.

drove through a council estate today 5 properties with scaffld up and panels stacked on scaffold!! pre reg i do believe !! ref future well im completed now all my instals! just sat in office starting paperwork bit by bit!! wil fit for local company who spesh in renewables !! they have loads of work but no mcs for solar pv till april so im helping them out AND DO THEY NEED IT!! im shocked realy by how little they know!! but they pay £1000/1500 per install so when im out of mcs it will be a doddle !! have to say its a shame that all this D stuff coming in as im chilling with all the paperwork now not overheating:) BY JOVE I THINK IVE SUSSED IT !! tooooooooooo late though :) ps fitted a CENTRO SOLAR system today !! been waiting for it since december!!!!! looks great but back up and sales for top price kit not good enough!!

When you do your exam, you register with an organisation it's part of your exam fees. I'm going with ABBE. You can be assessed but I'm not sure how often and I've reada couple of posts somewhere else about every job that had been assessed had been of really poor quality - so there doesn't appear to be any stringent quality checks and certainly nothing like MCS. It coudl all change though - and I could be wrong!!

Just done a bit of googling and came up with the comparison below. I infer it's likely you need to pay an annual fee to join a Club
DEA Accreditation Schemes Cost Comparison | Energy Performance Certificates

I also picked up that the training requirements to become a green deal assessor have not yet been published and may be subtlely different from those for a DEA. So it may be worth waiting until the requirements are published before rushing into training that may need some add-ons.

the only thing i will miss about solar pv is the VAT man paying ME!!! oh yeh plus being on site for only 2 days and leaving with a CHEQUE:)

Stroma seem to have a pretty good deal - no annual fee, £750 for the training and £290 + £90 for the admin and a reasonable charge for each EPC registration.

they have loads of work but no mcs for solar pv till april so im helping them out AND DO THEY NEED IT!! im shocked realy by how little they know!!

A little part of me dies every time I read about firms that have no idea what they are doing getting loads of work.

To be a GDA you will need to be a DEA first then upgrade to GDA !

the accreditation bodys are all free to join ! you just pay around £4.00 per EPC

they sample 2% of EPC per year , so NO paper fiddling is possible to all the cowboys out there.

best one is emck I think

i think the changes will work for medium size companies who will be able to offer all BITS OF PAPER required but cheaper than the few remaining big! also solar can only GROW in the future (no matter what rate) because its the correct thing to do! also the money making cowboys will be leaving!! im happy to fit the odd one for this company im working for and soon they get MCS so i can drop it BUT it is a shame for the soletrader who follows the book and supplies clients with quality product ! trouble is the book u follow is getting to THICK!! M E P i think u will go from strength to strength (ps on ur facebook page is that your wife holding the panel;) if so win win lol

I don't want to sink anymore money into this business for the GOvernement to just take it away again whenever they see fit.
