I like to think that someone who works in a Trade/Technical occupation would have 'some' awareness of other areas outside of their speciality, evidently not!

I work with a fitter who can happily strip & rebuild gearboxes, pumps etc. but hasn't got a clue about how his car works

This reminds me when I worked as a prescription delivery driver for the planets largest chain of pharmacies. I was allocated a van that had weird squealing noises coming from the brakes, and discovered they actually didn't work! Miles away from everywhere, my then boss phoned me to demand I hurry up doing my deliveries as the garage was waiting for my van to fit new brakes as they were faulty!!!!!

So he knowingly sent me out with faulty brakes!!! I could have killed myself or an innocent motorist/pedestrian. :66: :dead:

At least you would have had easy access to pain relief :D

I hope this guy has shown you that he was really grateful for you sorting his brakes out for him. I'll tell you, not many people around these day's such as yourself...

I'm shocked at Hightowers lack of mechanical knowledge! I really would have expected better from him, fancy not knowing that the cure to all those squeaks grinds and rattles on modern vehicles is simply to adjust a button marked volume on the radio.and another tip if you play that boom boom boom music it also cures the noise from flat tyres,or so it would appear from my experience with most young drivers, lol. And to prove it,I drove one chaps car and the gearbox growled like a dog, when I mentioned it the reply was "wouldn't know about that as I never drive without the radio on.lol
The youth of today don't you just love them.

slightly off topic here, but if anybody has used radweld before, don't ever again!
had a guy come in recently that had used it.buggered his engine. the radweld made it round to the bits where it wasn't supposed to and blocked it all up. as a result he couldn't afford the bill to repair it.

I ended up buying it off him and having it as a project.
got all that I can see out and am in the process of rebuilding the engine :)
