Is there a reasonably priced product anyone knows of where one can effectively switch the heating on with, in a house 80 miles away, that is equipped with some kind of SIM-powered, relay / contactor filled gadgetry?

We need to be able to provide a solution whereby the electric heating can be remotely controlled.

And no, don't say "ring the neighbours"!

?

Go on the screwfix website as they seem to have a wireless system for sale.

Mark that looks a poss., basically a auto dialler like on an alarm. I just need to switch a set of seven heaters (all with individual thermostats) on or off, they are all switched at the moment from one switch (through a couple of contactors as quite a large load approaching 40A).

The electronics and IT required to do this are easy enough at a 'system block' level, it's just whether or not someone has manufactured it in a plug and play fashion!

The problem that I can foresee isn't in the electrics/electronics, it's going to be with their ISP. To my mind, it's only going to work if you have a system of fixed IP addresses, and the heating system is going to be, in internet terms anyway, a server which will have to be able to be found on the web. Many ISP's don't allow that kind of arrangement within a standard package.
