I was replacing the circular element on my beko fan oven and noticed the element sticks out at an angle from the back of the oven when i replaced it. Now it will touch the metal plate that covers the element. I cant find any pertinant info about this problem so im posting here to find some kind of answer. I just need to know if the element will short if in contact with the metal or if it will work? Thanks.

Yeah they are quite nasty. All im really asking is will the element be safe to use if its in contact with the metal or should i order another element? Thanks for the replys.

The elements I have changed all had the metal outer sheath of the element earthed via the fixing studs, so it shouldn't matter if it touches. If the element is only fouling the plate be a few mm, you could try bending the element a bit, avoiding stress on the end where the connections are. If you don't have good airflow over the whole element it might get a hotspot and be more likely to fail at that point.

the actual metal outer of the element is earthe so electrically, it don't matter if it touches the oven casing. however, as handy spark has said, there could be a problem regarding heat dissipation/hot spot.
