Just a quick question, when changing a CU do they all have to be split rcd board now to meet regs or can you have everything on 1 rcd or even have the rcd as the main switch cause i know wylex still sell these boards.

Ideally you should split circuits up as much as you can hence the dual RCD boards. Obviously if it's a small install then an RCD main switch board may suffice, although RCBO's would be a better, but more expensive option.

Obviously all protected is better than none but to comply fully there should be more than one RCD.

Ok, as long as it meets the regs in someway im happy, it just seems pointless putting a few circuits on a split board, plus the customer wants to keep it cheap so cant rcbo it.

the only problem with 1 rcd is that if it trips every thing goes out , i would go with 2 rcds , even know there is only a few circuits , prob save u having to go back later on to put another one in .
