Hi there i am about to replace an electric shower in the house, as i do commercial work i am concerned about the compression joint which connects the shower to the water, do i have to replace this joint? or will it fit back onto new shower sorry if this sounds a daft question but better safe than sorry, thanks for any help !!!

It should fit back onto the new shower. As it is metal connector to plastic shower connector, do not over tighten. A little tip to get it to seal is use PTFE ON TOP of the olive as well as on the threads :smile5:

Hi normally the olive will be OK to reuse as the pipes in the shower are plastic these days.

FYI Triton showers are easy to fit no matter what side your water comes in as they have a space to route the water pipe inside the case.

One word of caution never use a quick fit type connector (js speedfit type) as they cannot ensure a reliable seal vs compression.

The manufacturers bumf normally states not to use them (Triton definitely does), I think the teeth make the plastic pipe rough and so possible sealing issues when replacing the fixture in future...

I have heard that if Triton turn up from a customer call they charge ÂŁ68 if the shower was not installed as per their instructions, so even if the shower has a faulty part they could charge for the visit!

i have found that pushfit fittings need a longer piece of pipe to connect onto (which shower manufacturers do not give) ie - inlet pipe of shower.
copper olives are easier to use on plastic inlet pipes
i wouldnt re-use the existing olive

A large part of my central heating uses them, pipes to garage hot & cold use them, the zone valves fitted 1.5m from the boiler uses them, the central heating pipes that run 30m down thru garden to the pond uses them. Never ever had a single leak/problem. The only disadvantage is that they stretch!

I paid ÂŁ20 for 30 meters 22mm last time I bought it (JG), what would that cost in copper? ÂŁ70-80?
