Replacing bathroom pull switch with dimmable pull switch

Hi folks,

I’m replacing my bathroom pull cord switch with a quieter one (that has a dimmer function that we’ll probably never use) and the original one had the live to COM and neutral (with brown sleeve) to L1. However this new pull switch has a IN L and N and a LOAD L and N and I’m a bit confused.

Now he has the internal cover on you can see it isn't really designed for one switch cable more one cable in one side and one cable out the other.

It's not right though is it, poor design for what is in most cases one cable.

I bet the cover is not metal just plastic would be better not to have the internal cover and dress the cables round.

I agree. It’s weird that the grey cable doesn’t enter the plastic fitting. It was £30 too! Thought it would’ve been a bit more thought through...

it'stypicalof equipment that has been designed by some bloke/lass who has never fitted one. see also Ikea lights. bloody awful.

This has been installed incorrectly. The sheath of the cable must enter the enclosure of the fitting. Even if you now bring the cable in one of the knockouts there is a hole in the enclosure. Unless around fast fix box or conduit box is now used this is non-compliant with the regs.
