Hi Everyone,

I have a quick question. I was at a house the other day and the householder had hit the consumer unit and broken the casing. Now if they wanted the casing only to be replaced what is the responsibility of the electrician?

As none of the circuits are going to changed or the breakers etc does full testing need to be carried out?

The CU is upto date and there is an isolator switch installed from the main supply.

It's just the casing in my view! No change to any circuit.

It would be prudent to run some checks after reassembly though to be sure it's gone back together correctly.

p.s. just a downer as it will mean disconnecting everything ...... literally .....
