Hello,
I was thinking about retraining as an electrician, i am 32, have a degree in Science and am in Scotland, Edinburgh to be extact, but something i was always interested in, being an electrician.
Is it sill a fixed requirement to have to do an apprenticeship....i suppose you would have to at some point, how likely would i get one at 32, i know noone in the industry so no help there.
.
Can you study by distance learning at all for the theory side of things, or would college be a must, how long does it take roughly?
Basically what options do i have?
Also is the industry still pretty snobby(to use one word) toward us with degrees, i believe a lot of that has changed these days, i am thinking back to when i was about 18 and those pursing say university education and those in the trades , well the banter didn't exactly mix very well or that was the way i imagined it when i was 18, i don't know why i thought that, maybe it is still the same though.
