Rewire prices an all time low

Just wondering how well you lads are doing on winning work at the minute. I'm doing ok at the minute surviving on day works etc. Priced 5 or 6 rewires in the last month and not won one! I've been pricing as low as £2000.00 for a 3 bed semi. I'm in Liverpool area. Surely to god I'm not expensive. NICEIC approved contractor (for what it's worth)

Customers now expect you to give everything away for nothing!

The Independent wholesalers are now feeling the pinch after Kingfisher Group tries to do a 'Tesco' with the Trades.

Yes and according to a phone conversation i had today with a part p provider the government STILL cant make its mind up about this.....I thought the idea behind the level 3 NVQ for new part p applicants was about stopping crap work by unsuitable "competent persons" bit of a contradiction there....but anyway the way i see it is that until it goes like gassafe (plumbers again tel) then you will keep getting undercut by knob heads with no business in a dis board etc.....

well talking about tesco....fronts and cables on the shelves there n all now...same at asda.....

News reports say north will be hit hardest by this recession malark. Im in London and work is coming in at a steady rate for now. Alot of people people investing in property, mostly richer.

JL there is a rewire going in Eastham, they want it doing by 3rd december, do you go on Mybuilder.com?, ive seen it on there but i cant do it in that time from where i am , even though ive been up there on the wirral doing bits and bobs travelling from here

Llandrillo, nah mate not been using mybuilder. I've looked into it but read a few reviews on here etc and thought it seemed a bit of a scam. I will have a proper look though. I'm generally pretty chocker as a one man band doing a good mix of subbying, domestic bits and pieces, couple of commercial maintenance customers and the odd rewire for good measure. I've just noticed the domestic go completely dead though in the last six months. I just find that there is no room for developing new business at the minute

Im from Liverpool too, I tend to stay away from rewires at the present, I find I do better doing smaller jobs and factory / office work .... Rewires are getting done now for less than i was charging 3 years ago.
