Alright fella's

I'll be starting my level 3 next year and have told my sister i'll rewire her house in the next 2 years! ha,
Was just wondering if anyone can explain

: the stages from start to finish how to rewire a house
: ideal preparation, eg layout drawings, specs, materials list etc?

Thanks
Paul

sell him one from ya stash mate!!!! :D

He has got a stash ?????? where did they come from??? is that why everytime he does a re-wire, the isolator is replaced with a most splendid "Twist and Tape" arrangement on the tails??

LOL im going to end up with his boot up my jaxy! lol

On a serious note, get a decent circular saw with a tct blade for slicing down floor boards and a decent nail bar to flick the boards up.

Also invest in a scutch chisel as you will have a huge amount of chasing out!

and a Lid of a length of mini trunking is invaluable for threading cables under floors

another point, as its your first rewire it may be a good idea to get the dno to fit a isolator - saves messing on with fuse.
Hi mate do the DNO charge to fit a ISOLATOR as my brother wants me to sort his spaghetti wiring and transfer old circuits to a ew existing board it has a wylex fuseboard for original house 4 way and a 12 way split load rcd protected one side
He said i can do a pir for practice and then transfer old circuits and remove the wylex fuseboard
the plank who did it for him was ruff also his water bond needs upgrading to 10mm as its only got 6mm and there is signs of charring, burning etc going to do pir to test everything ok before transferring hoping to use this for assessment with elecsa

cheers mate.
but also tails to old wylex only 16mm and not sheathed so will all need ugrading through meter the guy who fit the new board looks like he pulled fuse and connected new board and this board to existing tails with henley block all needs sorting out can see bare conductors on water bond and neutral tail

Had the meter changed in my house recently. I wasnt there but got sum1 to let him in. They had 2 virtually beg for an isolator, and he refused to upgrade 16mm tails from meter to isolator. 80A main fuse on TN-S.

So now I have 25mm tails from iso to c/unit and 16mm before but obviously cant pull fuse to upgrade!

One rule for one..........

hi mate thats exactly how are kids is done but has no isolator 16mm unsheathed upto henley block then 25mm to new ccu and 16mm to old wylex the new 12 way ccu only controls half of kitchen downlights and the new half of the kitchen sockets about 4 , the wylex 4way fuseboard controls rest of house wires to new ccu are coming from all over the place ie dogs back leg
Generally it looks dog ruff
