Rewiring lights across finished ceiling, notch the joist our or cut a hole at the joist and speed bit a hole through the joist?

Either way the ceiling will more Than likely need reboarding , so I would prefer to cut holes and drill through the joists with a 20mm hole...

Speedbit through the joist, as far as I am aware notching the underside of the joist is not allowed.

You aren’t really supposed to not have out the bottom of joists

it wouldn’t be ‘finished’ once I had finished routing my new cables

No it wouldn’t be once I’d multi tooled a 3 inch strip from one end of the room to the other either ?
