This one baffled me

Complete ring continuity on each conductor L-L ,N-N,E-E

IR - N-E : 0.00 Mohm @ 500 Vdc

split ring in middle - 50.3 Mohm on one side of ring
- 30.2 Mohm on other side !!!!!

the fault disapears on both sides when i split it ! HUH ???????

Reinstate full ring and faults reapears : ?????

what were your step one results LL NN EE
What were your step 2 results L1N2 L2N1 cross connections
What were your Step 3 results L1CPC2 L2CPC1 cross connections

Make sure these results are correct before IR testing

It Sounds like a neutral earth reversal somewhere
release all sockets and check connections at rear

Last resort remove all sockets seperate all cables test each piece of cable in turn

bet there is a junction box or socket you have missed which has the fault connected to some thing like a garage supply off the ring main and an external light full of water connected to a garage supply some where between the position where you have split the ring is a connection you have missed

hi there. i bet you will find that if you take the sockets off , and perform an I.R test on the sockets themselves you will find some of them down. if not there maybe dampness causing this , or you may not of unplugged everthing in the property ie an extension lead under a kitchen cupboard. hope this helps

good point tomo had this 2 or 3 times 2 cats had pee'd over a socket and one embarressed 23 year old slightly bevvied up had also done the same

LOL i have tested properties for over 19yrs every single bloody boring day. Nothing still seems to amaze me, you will never stop learning you will always get better. p.s a problem shared is a problem halved...
