Hi guys, just your thoughts please, customer has come to me after having a eicr (by someone else). Anyway there a circuit for sockets (5 in total) its on one 2.5 from the board and then goes to a jb under floor somewhere (not a problem I hear you say) but from this jb it turns from a 2.5 t+e to a 3core and earth to each of the sockets. I have to said to customer that it needs to be sorted but they don't want me to take the posh laminate up, so my dilemma could I blank off say 2 sockets and put the rest on a 16a mcb or would it be best to disconnect totally and tell him that if he wants the sockets then I need to find jb and rewire from there in the correct cable.

Thanks in advance

Chris

disconnect totally ?
that should be absolute last resort and you have absolutely no authority to do it anyway.
just derate to 16a till hes prepared to lift the floor.
why make it a big drama lol.

This kind of thing really bloody annoys me! The muppet is prepared to spend god knows how much on making the house look good (in his opinion) but doesn't want to spend a few quid to protect himself and any family from a potential horrible painful fiery death. Tell him I said he's an idiot.

I would love to, but they have bought this flat and the previous owner decided to do it himself, no main earth, tails 10mm, no bonding at all, under floor heating fed from a socket in lounge which also has a borrowed neutral from the sockets to lighting to power 4 downlights. Double spurred sockets in kitchen, fridge spur fed in 1.5mm.

if its as bad as you make out, offer them a price they simply Cannot resist for a rewire and chance your arm!
