Hi, my mate asked a couple of us at work today And we couldn't help, basically he been out to a job where 10 days ago there ring mcb tripped and when turned back it stays on for couple of hours then trips again, this is with everything unplugged, and this womans coax has set on Fire and tv power lead melted, yet not hung pics or anything up to hinder the wiring and also never had a prob in 9 years

Saw the same thing 2 weeks ago from a lightning strike, coax practically vapourised but no damage to anything else-could this be lightning?

Possibly no drip loop on the coax and water has run down to the telly through the coax

It may not have been noticed if they were watching David Attenbroughs undersea world programme

Iv just rang my mate and he saying coax and ring running separately so coax could have melted via lightening but that does not help with ring problem, he said he is getting 230 at board across L/N etc but not continuity, I'd say he best off disconnecting every socket n obv make safe and add a leg on at a time that should narrow it down

CJ24 all my rubbish jokes aside. Has this house got a tv amplifier? If so look there first for any damage done by the lightning to the socket via the amp. If not break the ring (i won't say split again) and test each leg one at a time as you've said.
