Unfortunatly i have been isued with an older robin loop tester. How do i stop the rcd tripping when i wanna measure the loop impedance. Also how do i do this on rcd sockets.

There is a way of doing this.

Isolate (open) MCB for circuit to be tested.

Link L - E at furthest point on circuit

Isolate (open) RCD supplying circuit to be tested.

Close MCB for circuit to be tested.

Place probe one on outgoing load side of RCD

Place probe two on incoming supply side of RCD and take reading.

Extreme caution needs to be applied to the correct sequence for this method for obvious reasons.

don't forget to reinstate when you've completed testing, and----- drop the antique and hope they replace it with something that wasn't used on the |Titanic
