Rointe Heaters, any good?

Hi guys.

Has anyone got any proper info about Rointe heaters, not their sales blurb. Customer comments etc would be good.
Moneysavingexpert.com has quite a thread on these heaters which mostly rubbishes them. Anyone used Rointe heaters? - MoneySavingExpert.com Forums

The literature looks good but apparently the advertising standards agency has found against them following complaints.
I don't know what to believe but don't want to recommend expensive heaters that don't save the money they are supposed to.

What do you guys think?

Also read the reports etc. and they all give the same bad impression with the laws of thermodynamics and so on....

However I did go to a place that had them installed and they did heat the room Very quickly, they're also the nicest looking electric heaters I've ever seen if nought else

ASA found against them on some accounts (can't remember which ones) but upheld other claims they made re efficiency. We have some on trial but no results yet, bit too warm. They are very expensive and there are alternatives that are cheaper and say they offer similar savings. As with most of this new 'green' stuff payback will be a long time. If the customer is paying no problem but if you are a 2kW convector @ 30 quid el be hard to beat.

I fitted three of them back in the colder snap a while ago in an old cottage, and tbh cant fault them. Doddle to install, heat the air up really quickly and customer very happy. Yes, they're not the cheapest on the market, but then neither is my missus. She keeps me warm in bed as well.

Good heaters, nice to install, easy to program & multiple heaters can be programmed the same with the remote. Visually Smarter than a convector heater. No idea when it comes to running costs

SJM, thanks for the link to the debate on Money Saving Expert. After wading through the arguments on there I was still left with the question - are they any good? Do they do what's claimed for them? Rockingit and OBA have filled in that gap (thanks) so now it'll be down to price and running costs. If they cost the same as night storage boxes and cost the same to run as panel heaters, but look nicer and offer better control, than I guess they'll pass muster. Round our way there are lots of places where gas isn't an option and oil is becoming too costly, so a good electric offering is needed.

I installed one of the 5 element Rointe rads in my smallish conservatory - and it works a treat!
I didn't buy the remote since I only have one and didn't feel the need but the online shop I bought from put me through to Rointe directly and their customer service is excellent!

I can only give my two cents here, as I switched to these heaters (Rointe) in the student house I am renting.
I must say it seems to be saving money with the bills monthly, they have only been installed for 4 months so maybe its too soon to talk, but they seem to be great.
We couldn't get gas installed so these seemed the best solution, for my personal opinion anyway I would recommend them

I am actually an Electrical Fitter, Every single job I have done the customer has been happy with the outlay, everything has been left clean and tidy and they are happy with the radiators, they are easy to use. We’ve had a few phone calls where the customer said it has made a difference.. so a lot of happy people..
