Rubbish junction boxes

I find junction boxes are really rubbish these days with their steel terminals and badly fitting screws,I stripped two just this morning.I also find that no matter how tight I make the terminals with solid conductors if I go back in a few months to do an addition they are never all that tight.I find the screws easily get cross threaded and strip or just strip anyway or there is a crunch as the terminal breaks loose.I don't recall having this problem when all cables were stranded and the terminals were of real brass.Anyone else have this problem?

Hi sparkdog, Use Ashley junction boxes, not as cheap as the generic types, but with brass terminals and screws with substantial buttressing of the terminals to resist opening up and the inevitable cross-threading that happens with inferior versions.

Second that. Wagos in Wago boxes are the way to go.

I have to agree with Wago's. They are so much better and easier then a JB. Either put in a Wago box or an adaptable box for me. I got so fed up with terminal screws breaking on junction boxes. Wagos are a lot cheaper then you think they would be and pay for themselves in the time that you save.

It's cheaper than buying them separately.

They do a pack without the Wagoboxes for £85 + VAT if you just want the connectors

Those are the guys who invented the Wagobox so I can't see you finding them much cheaper.

Once you've got the pack you then just buy them as you need them.

My local City's were selling off their Wago Contractor Cases for £35 xVAT.....
Needless to say they weren't around long.

They could be still worth a look incase they've still got some

Wago's are great i'm a told convert.... But for lighting JB's its Ashley J501 for me.... Love emmmmmm

Wagos is the way to go ,so much more convenient that struggling with a screwdriver/J.B etc in a well insulated loft. Wago box em or buy a cheap adaptable box and put them in there ;-)

Not sure what area your in....? But TLC do them cheaper than buying direct from Wago, not sure how they manage that
