hi, i am booked in to take the 17th edition shortly and want to start getting some jobs in, i am not part p registered although i want to be as soon as possible, just wondered what you can actually do legaly without bein registered? im sorry if this has been asked before which im sure it has

As Johnny G has pointed out, providing you are confident you will pass, then just do the job, do the cert and use it for your assessment.

Once passed, just notify it as you will do from then on.

Tis what i and many others have done.

i had no problems with nic/eic. i think they have a welcome pack ? comes in a big box . was 2005 so lot of water under the bridge. did 2 jobs one an anex, another rewire. inspector came round [very nice guy] passed me.i asked him pass rate 6 out of 10 at that time so i was very happy with all the hard work and was very pleased with my self.
.same set up every year.it was very tetchy with all the paper work testing [no help given on the tests just lot of questions] etc. but if a numb skull like me can do it .walk in the park to the young uns to day. i no lots of guys not registered ,but i thought thats not for me cheers john b

there is plenty of organizations you can do your part p through , if your a member of niceic they can point you in the right direction , its a pretty straightforward exam multiple choice online

The 1552, which I also own, does not predate GS38. You have nothing to worry about.
