Moving office onto portacabin on the other side of yard . Told my boss could do a straight run across underground across yard ("that fine ") ,told him it needs to be 600mm depth as we have wagon run over the area (not fine) . Now he's talking about going the longer way round and could i attach to the railing . I've seen many case when runs for sheds or garage s have been screwed to the fence ,but never seen one along a railing.

A nice long run of SWA along a set of railings sounds like it could be vunerable for theft.. you might want to weight that up in the cost calculations if its a bit of a dodgy area
. I like it did not think of that , never mind the cost what if someone hurts themselves ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ it's like advertising free copper (throw the steel away it's not worth the time )

Other than its not seen done that way, at the least it will be fixed/supported on the rail and is mechanically protected

I know in the colliery they could be seen along their length dangling from spaced out hangers with no problems, they would not have taken kindly to needing to trench the cable down there :)

I actually like the tray on the rail solution,it seems to be the ideal solution for both parties

going to try and get him to bury it cos it feel more permanent and the running around the fence double the lenght, but if i have to may drill the cross rail every 400mm and fit cleats cos cable tie is a no no

Measured it out about 55 m if buried about 140m if clipped . got round it by asking about water supply drains BT cable weight bridge etc . so now someone else can be the pioneer (a six foot run up to a control box for automatic gates does not count . 70m or more )
