Howdy all,

Looking for some opinions/advice Ime planing out a job for putting power in my shed.
Plan is drill through a socket on the ringmain in the living room wall to the outside, Fit a IP66 FCU with RCD protection, Then off that to a IP66 double socket, then onto my shed with SWA for another socket and light.

Nothing to hairy.

But I was thinking of the best way to join the FCU to the SSO in terms of keeping them watertight as they will be obviously be open to the elements.
So I was thinking of using these:
Masterseal IP56 PVC 20mm Conduit Entry | Outdoor Cable Entry | Screwfix.com

Out the bottom of each unit and then have a bit of 20mm bent between them.

So heres my questions:

Firstly do the above seals work with any 20mm knockout or will the only fit the MK range as Ime planing on going with BG stuff to keep the cost down.

Secondly in terms of drilling through the external wall is there a minimum height to go past to avoid any damp course etc as I cant see any membrane or anything like you sometimes do (house was built around 98 if thats any help) Also what about sealing the hole back up around the T&E cable?
Best to use silicone or just put some mortar around it?

Cheers all.

you would to fix to the conduit though :( we use a lot of them and i hate them. i really need to buy a bush spanner.

you cant always get your 21mm socket in

I like this one.

Well i managed to find a sort of double ended rubber grommet thats designed to join 2 masterseal boxes together so I have ordered one of them.
Also means there wont be a big gap between them keeping them looking neat :)

As for the bushes I use one of these:

The flexible head makes it ideal for those hard to reach areas.

Cheers Tel,

I wasnt going to bother tubing through the wall just a T&E straight into the back of the FCU, I was then going to Tube between the FCU and the SSO and then Tube the socket and lights in the shed. Oh and the outside light that will be on the shed LOL

YEEE ... HAAAAAA!!!!! .:cowboy:

Mind you don't trip on your spurs on your way out! ;)
