S-Plan central heating - bypass microswitch?

They most certainly do, to the extent that I've converted more than a few to S plan over the years.
Depending on whether heating or hot water was used last, the motor in a 3 port valve can remain powered up for months if the system isn't used in the summer, which I'm convinced slowly cooks it.
Remember the motors in an S-plan valve are powered while heating/hot water is demanded! Another absurd design (how much power is wasted through this nonsensical design?!)!
