Safe Isolation of CU fed by PV.

Hi,

A really simple question, so please go easy on me!!

I've been asked to do a CU change on a domestic property which has PV panels installed. What I want to know is how to confirm safe Isolation of the PV and any testing that maybe required for the EIC.

Obviously I can check 240v AC at CU DNO supply (LE, LN & NE) and isolate that, but how to confirm PV is isolated from the rotary isolator. Is it simply LE, LN & NE on both sides of the isolator?

Finally, what tests are needed on the PV side for EIC or does that have to be certifed by a qualified PV installer separately?

just after the CU there should be an isolator marked up as PV isolator, turn this off & then lock of & you should be able then change the consumer unit after safe isolation & if really uncertain then turn of the Inverter should the house have one & the DC isoaltors should the house have them.

As far as I can see there is just the AC converter next to the CU.

I will therefore check the incoming (from PV panels) and outgoing conductors to CU (as describex above) to confirm dead before commencing.

Sorry mean AC isolator next to CU. Need to have a proper look at the installation when I'm there on Wednesday.

should be ok to just isolate at that point prove safe isolation & lock off, then if really worried turn of the other isoaltors at the Inverter end should they have them. there should be an emergency shutdown procedure information with the client end.
that should help you.

if you turn the board of it will kill the power the the inverter and it will stop the transformer inside from converting the dc to ac so it will be perfectly safe.

if your not happy there will be a local isolator next to the inverter and turn the dc isolator off after the ac if you want as well
