hi guys can the Fluke T5 1000v be used for the safe isolation procedure, i cant find anywhere where is says its GS38

The meter is up to EN 61010 standard but can't find anywhere that tells you if the probes are fused or not.

If they aren't I suppose you can always buy a set.

thanks jud, but has its a multitester cant it be left in the wrong mode so its possible to get an incorrect reading, hence it cant be used for the safe isolation procedure

Yeah. Paragraph 17 of GS38 says a Test Lamp or 2-pole Voltage indicator proved before and after use is the preferred method of safe isolation.

You'd probably be better off getting yourself one of those. I've just ordered a Martindale VIPD Kit. Comes with proving unit.

Martindale VIPD Voltage Safety Kit - VI13700G and PD690 proving Unit - Voltage Detectors & Proving - Safety Voltage Indicator and Proving Unit VIPD Kit - Test Meters and Electrical Test Equipment Supplier - Test and Measuring Meters
