Safe plates...

Anyone use 'safe plates' with success.

Seen them years ago but always thought a bit naff due to boards not being able to be laid flush after in place?

Just concerned the chippy laying the chip board floor will rip them all up!

Want to use them as secondary form of protection on an armoured submain I can only notch in and can't RCD.

Fein'ing it all anyway, so could nip a little bit extra out I suppose :smiley2:

Got about x35 of them to do, joists at 400 centres :nonod:

Get some cheap labour in for a day to do all the notching out for you. Or fit real cheap and nasty plates that are 0.5mm thick and wont do the job properley

Bit of extra piece of mind, I really dont trust 100's of 2"x8's being impacted in right next to my 25mm SWA... dont think it would stand much chance

Sorted... never used a router before, handy bit of kit especially when we had x 40 plates to fit in :cool3:

Those roof trusses are not allowed to be drilled or notched, could be an expensive repair for you if building control pull it????

That's what I was getting at but it might be getting converted which is why he has notched them which would in theory make them floor joists .

Are you suggesting that the roof may be taken off and the bottom of the truss is left and used as a floor joist? Then if guess that that would be fine.

Im a glass half full kinda guy. But that might be a bit optimistic. But can't think why he would of notched it in a loft only if it was being boarded even if it was I would cleated it low level to the uprights.

Alternatively run it around the edges where it is likely the space will not be used?
