Just a quick one guys, are there any safe zones when runing cables in ceilings? I know it should be 50mm preferably however is there any specific routes you have to follow? Like can you go diagonally across?

Thanks!

The drilling of joists will determine the position of the cables in the ceiling as there is a requirement for this. Cables should be at a depth of no less than 50mm. If you are using existing notches in the top of the joist for example then they should ideally have a steel plate protected them.

Thanks for the info , you know how were not aloud to run cables diagonally from sockets and switches and things lile that does that apply in the ceailing aswell?

it does not apply to any cables that are >50mm from the surface. the safe zones only apply to cables buried <50mm deep.
