so far today i have received 3x phone calls from

Foresters Fund for children
Police Talk Magazine
Safeguard Magazine

all demanding money for adverts and advertising in there charity magazines!!!!

DO NOT FALL FOR THERE TACTICS!!!

the latest chap selling space in the police talk mag actually put the phone down on me when i told him i never heard of his magazine and when i asked who gets it he said , well the police, councils, local homes..... i stopped him there and said my G/F is a police officer and she never heard of it either..!! suddenly the dial tone was heard..!!

With held number I take it....
Why do 75% of customer withhold their number, you have to answer it and normally it's some lower life form trying to sell or con you.

with held number!! dont know mate..! my number is a 0800 num so its diverted on to my second line courtesy of BT home hub!! with is like a 997665567 random number...!!

i just get a 020 number from my 0800 provider..


but yeah it was some scouse chav every time....!!

Although I've registered all our numbers (including mobiles),
we still get allot of calls BUT the cold calls are 99% of the time via the 1 0845 number (yes I have checked and it is registered) we have.

Which I now don't bother to forward to mobiles, to be honest can't remember when a customer last called it so might as well drop it.

Unfortunately there does seem to be a couple of loop holes scammers use to get past TPS. Calling from another country is one.
But Chris (Acat) is right, registering with TPS has drasticly reduced the number of calls we get.

The biggest con with it apart from overseas calls as above is sales calls are banned so now the call it market research which are not banned same thing different name just to get round the system. Why am I not suprised.

Unless it's one of you lot winding me up of course!!!

this scam works on them recording your conversation with selective questions to try and get a yes to anything about the advertizing.
next thing you know you'll get an unwelcomed bill for a fantasy advert followed by the aggresive debt collection letters for when you don't pay.
final resort for them is the usual credit black list threat if you don't pay then they usually go away
all from the same company/scum bags and a very old scam which keeps popping up.

I can't help thinking that surely it would be easier to do a days work that come up with all the schemes they seem to, in the vain hope that someone is going to be stupid enough to fall for.

Mind you, if they're just trying to get you to say 'yes' to an ambiguous question I can imagine anyone falling for that.

Had some company called QBS call me yesterday, telling me they would be able to give me all the insurance jobs in my area. Really smooth manouvre as well, I would have gone for it hook line and sinker if it werent for the 'totally refundable £200 deposit' making alarm bells go off - I asked on here and it looks like a few people have seen this sort of thing.

Today I had literally phone ringing off the hook every 20 minutes - thought it was this QBS again as it was a London number so ignored it but it kept on and on - finally answered it and it was my old friend Mohammed Khan from 'Service Magic' with yet another majestic scheme that will bring me all the work under the sun.... said the line was TPS and not to call please thank you.
End of story? Nah. The berk has sent me an email detailing the service he can provide, which after a quick perusal seems to be the grand total of sod all. Has anybody seen that episode of South Park with the Underpants Gnomes? The one with the equation UNDERPANTS + ? = PROFIT. It was literally like that - 'Well Rocker, what happens is you give us money which we put in this box here. Then we turn this handle, magic happens, and then we somehow give you leads'. I think it's a fine business model....

It happened to me when i was just starting out, some bird with a sexy voice telling me I could be the only spark in a magazine for pregnant women distributed at every hospital or some such nonsense. I say nonsense but at 19 any female attention is welcome. I should have known better when she said she couldn't send copy. But I guess when you're younger you believe everyone to be essentially honest. It was a £64 lesson learnt! I can't believe these people can knowingly cheat the honest. We could definately do with the gang from Hustle.

ive had calls from all these people in the last two weeks.........all of them...one after the other.
all said above is true..they ask if your interested,you say yes im interested,,oh great ill send you the ad.
i check the net for info..
1. vardis are now vision no doubt
2. they will tell you your already in and must pay
3. are full of *&$£%
4. hope im right coz i may go for a new morgage soon and would hate to be black listed.
5. why is this still going on...seems to have been around for years and still going stong.

my wife rang the local police and told them everything.... no what
they said so what what are you ringing us for,you havent lost any money!
forget all the other poor *&*£s out there getting called now...

anyone else think its worth calling crime watch......what else is there to do

ps just found out their address is fake!!!!
