Hi there hope this in the right section to start.

I was just wondering what the going rate for a 2nd year apprentice. Im now in my second year and still on ÂŁ80 per week. Im gonna stick with it because i like the job but i was wanted to know if there is a minimum wage once you start your second year of training?

Cheers

Have a look on the JIB website, gives a list of hourly rates of pay for all levels, you may not be JIB registered but it should give you an idea.:)

I would say you are highly underpaid and have posted a government link below

HM Revenue & Customs:National Minimum Wage

Thanks for the reply i had been told that i was due national minimum wage but then i asked at college and he said there is no minimum for apprentices and the fact im a 2nd year and 21 means nothing and if my gaffer wanted he could pay me ÂŁ80p/w for this year aswell.

I dont see my boss all that often so havent spoke to him about it but im not doing another year living on the bones of my ar5e so i definatly need a raise or an evening job!

sounds harsh but i'd be telling my boss to stick it if i was getting paid 80 pounds a week, i used to earn that cutting grass on a saturday. I'm just going into my second year like you. I'm on ÂŁ6.10 an hour and do between 40 and 60 hours a week. In my first year i was being paid ÂŁ5 an hour

I see what your saying something is going to have to be done. i offered myself for ÂŁ80p/w for my 1st year because my gaffer pays for my college fees and wasnt overly keen of taking someone on this time last year. but i think im at least twice as good as i was last year therefore surley im worth ÂŁ160p/w lol

suppose, im 20, my college fees are paid for me. i even get 50 quid a week to drive to college in my car or i can use a van to go in if i want

well when i started out i was doing a yts ÂŁ25.00 per week i did this for 3 year thay was no min wage then showing my age now but i stuck at it thanks to my parents for helping me out& my wife who helped me out as well .. just stick at it or find a part time job
