I'm not usually one for starting petitions but it seemed a real shame to close this place.
Christchurch's Museum of Electricity closes its doors (From Bournemouth Echo)
It was a museum to the history of electricity, run and funded by Southern Electric from an old Edwardian power station (admission was free), featuring exhibits such as the early dc switchboard in my avatar.
Apparently the reason for it closing was it "does not fulfil its visitor needs and has restricted disabled access".

Thank you.

Our trade is being destroyed in present times, how can we let them destroy part of the history of our industry wily nilly

If you have interest in electricity, as you almost certainly will have being part of this forum, please take a little time out and go out of your way to support Adam in this very worthwhile cause

Don't just look at the link, show you care and support this campaign

Signed it. Looks like a good cause, too many of this type of thing shutting down. Once things close they very rarely open again.
On the subject of Urbex, Derelict Places is an excellent site (I have no affiliation to this site, other than using it).

Signed. I've been to the museum twice and kept meaning to go back. I'll be quite disappointed if it stays closed.

It does/did have irritating opening times though - only open Monday-Thursday except for special events.

Signed.

Here in Guernsey we had a wonderful telephone museum, containing working artifacts from the 1890's to the present day, including a working Strowger frame, staffed by volunteers. Sadly this has now been closed down and the exhibits distributed far and wide. So sad.
