If there's a problem with a panel does the manufacturer cover the cost of scaffolding? I thought I knew the answer - that they didn't but then I decided I'm not sure and the warranty isn't really that clear. Any thoughts??

As and when it will be needed , i have always just assumed we would be footing the bill for it if associated with a warranty claim .
Touch wood ! We have yet to find out .:lipsrsealed2:

At the margins we're making I'd be really reluctant to cover the cost of scaffolding for something that isn't our fault. I don't mind if we've made a mistake I'd expect to cover that but not for faulty panels 15 years down the line.

I can understand that !
But as we dropped our MCS when they did the dirty , we only ever installed at the top end of the market so had the margin in it .
But i think we will be revisiting that approach as and when we start back on solar again .

You taking the plunge again then? You'll find a huge difference in the margins. I sometimes dream of the old days ... can't complain paid the mortgage off and saw me through last winter but nothing like that for next year - margins are too slim. We'll have to either install right through the winter (and I can't see that happening) or diversify into something else that the govt will slash!!

I did say about a year ago that we were going back in , even got to the point of booking an assessment !
But then cooled off on the idea , but we are being chased by several of our existing solar clients to enlarge systems that we have installed .
It is also starting to wear a little thin , passing on jobs to others .

I do not miss the stress and sh**e that you boys are having to put up with , but at the same time it is hard to see a finished system on a roof knowing that it would have been one of yours if you had not passed it on !

Sunpower cover scaff, for 25 years now too...

I doubt you'll get much more than a cheque for ÂŁ120 or something for any of the chinese panels. After paying for return shipping back to HQ... If there's still a HQ...
