Was hoping for some advice on Scottish system. I have worked under part p regime for a number of years but have now moved .

About to complete purchase of a flat in Glasgow that I would like to fit a new CU to replace rewireable unit.

Research suggests that I need to contact Glasgow City Council and apply for a building warrant. Cost A ÂŁ100 (I think).
As part of the application I need to submit plans. So first question...what do they expect by "plans" ? could this be a statement saying how many circuits and and what for/type/protection and any bonding needs or do they expect a lot more info?

In anyones experience ,in Glasgow, how easy are the council to work with. They talk about 28 days notice between submission of application and starting work. Is this this bad in practice.

Looked at registering with SELEcT but at ÂŁ600 or so its not going to be worth my while as dont intend to becdoing enough electrical work to justify expense.

Any pointers gratefully appreciated.

In a flat yes it should be notified to local authority in glasgow
also you dont need to be registered with nic or select etc if you are approved then a copy of your grading card usually will do.
as for dealing with GCC im not sure nit had any dealings with them personally.

That's good coming from a Geordie living in sand dancer country
Geordie in sand dancer country? We're all Geordies here (apart from the foreigners of course)
I shall have you know sir that we educated northern men can elucidate our views perfectly well by the use of the queen's English.

Yep it is a flat. The guidelines I read suggest BW is necessary. but I guess there can be a difference between practise and the rule of law. I will be renting the flat out so need to make dure I dont leave self open to litigation.... thanks for any pointers. In England its almost impossible to do electrical work without being part of a scheme (partP) but it seems in Scotland you can do a lot more work without joining niceic or select...correct me if my perception is not correct. Cheers
