Hello KB,

Welcome aboard.

Testing and inspecting is mainly about having the experience and competence to recognise potential faults or contraventions of regulations or even sometimes infractions of contracts, so a good working knowledge of BS7671 is essential along with insight into the design of an installation.

Keep at it KB, once you have gained approved status I'm sure you find all your hard work worth it.

Scottish newbie , in answer to your question , if you can find a approved electrician to check your work , throughout the installation , then they may be willing to sign it off . We currently have to carry out periodic inspections for cliets who have hired a non approved / no certifier of construction to verify the installation for the Building Warrant . Hope this helps
