Re: Screw Drivers

As far as I can see the wickes are identical to the draper expert except for the price, also if you rub hard enough "wickes" rubs off and no ones any the wiser!! The one that doesn't come in the set is the 4mm but is available seperately for about £3,

Re: Screw Drivers

Wickes WERE identical to Draper, but they have introduced a new range of 'soft grip' drivers with red and yellow handles - don't look nearly as good as old ones!

Re: Screw Drivers

In the US, pretty much every electrician uses Klein screwdrivers. I'm going to have to check out some of these other brands you all use. I've never heard of most of them.

"knocking driver"? That might be what we call a "beater screwdriver". It used to be a straight blade, and now it's some sort of b@stardized chisel due to abuse.

10 out of 10. I love my knocking driver !! I will take a pic and post it later ! :D

Re: Screw Drivers

Got myself a Roper Whitney punch (Jnr No.5) mdshunk.

Must have heard of them? (I know it isn't a screwdriver)

Re: Screw Drivers

I thought that Bahco rocks. Unfortunately, I broke my 3.5 flat after several days.
Back to my trusty Kraftgrip sets.
Recently, I purchased a set of Stanley Max VDE. To my astonishment I could reed “Kraftgrip” logo on the Stanley Max 3.0mm circuit tester.
After brief research I found out that The Stanlies are actually “Kraftgrips” made in Slovenia. Anyway, they are probably the strongest one of all that I have been using.

Irazola. Bright orange and unmistakeable.£30 - £40 for a set of 6. i had them for like 2 years have lasted quite well to be honest i also have a set of ck drivers which i got as a part of a set for 27 they are good too had no problems

the bacho ones are very cheap on ebay at the moment a set of 6 insulated drivers £14 quid

ck's and a cheap £2 mains tester from the wholsalers cos i can do anything with it (chip away plaster) and not care. Have used irazolas but preferred the ck's. Plus my cutters and pliers are ck so i just stuck with them.

hi
I've found different makes best at different sizes. I like these makes in no particular order - CK (pozis, not so much flats) Bahco (pozis) Wiha (flats esp 4mm). Stanley fatmax also great (made by French company called BOST - same as Britool). Probably like Facom most of all, esp the Borneo drivers for terminals. Never tried Irazola though.
Since it's been mentioned, I like Knipex pliers, although NWS are perhaps better (comfier handles)
I know, my toolbox is heavy...
Cheers

Stanley Fatmax VDE and Facom for me to :) Really good stuff i've found.

have just taken deliver of my new knipex drivers and whilst my bank account has taken a major hit. they sure feel worth every penny. the pz2 is shorter than the irazola ones and feel a lot lighter, i was not too keen on this to start with after a days work they felt perfect. and picking up a rizola again felt strange. i have used irazola for last 6 years neva had any other driver. and i think i have a new brand for life now. worth every penny i paid £120 for a set of 11. expensive but well worth it

I dont know if any one else has had this happen to them, but my supervisor was always raving about his Irazolas,so last summer I bought a set, since then I have snapped 4 out of the seven. I snapped my terminal driver tightening the terminal in a 500W flood light and the other day I snapped my big pozi doing up a 2" woodscrew into decking:eek: I know they have a lifetime warranty but my stockist never has the one I am looking for. Although when they are not snapping they are a nice screwdriver to use. My other set, and I know they have already been slated, and I get a lot of stick for using them, are kew technik. The terminal driver and no. 2 pozi are the only screwdrivers I ever use, they are absolutly bombproof!!

Re: Screw Drivers

The best screwdrivers you can buy are Irazola. Bright orange and unmistakeable. They have pounds of torque and a lifetime guarantee. Any good wholesaler will stock them at around £30 - £40 for a set of 6.
I'll second that, used Irazola for years, quality screwdrivers.
