Hi which are best/adequate SDS Hammer drills regarding price/batterry life before recharge/performance.Having said all that I dont want to spend to much on one.

I've always liked the 24V Bosch Drills but you need the 3Ah batteries to get max battery life. They can be recharged in as little as 15 minutes too. Probably not the cheapest option but you get what you pay for.

have a look at hitchi. mine's getting a bit worn now, but it is 20 years old and on it's 2nd battery.

Makita UK

I love this one. It fills the capability gap between a combi and a mains sds brilliantly.
It takes the same batteries as the whole range, which is a big advantage.
It has rotostop and can be used for chiselling.
Has the powerful LXT motor - make sure you have at least 2 batteries though.

Mines in constant use, even for putting 6mm holes in brick.

If you really want a 36V one, you can get an adaptor to use 2x 18V li-ion batteries, so when it's not in use you can still use the batteries for your combi etc.

A while back I got an Eaurbauer SDS from Screwfix as it was on a deal, nearly half price. I normally buy branded names as you tend to get quality with it however I thought it was worth a punt.

The drill itself is good enough for the jobs I need it to do but the battery life is pants. They're getting better after a few discharges and recharges but I won't be getting one again or recommending them.

Next time will either be a Bosch or a Hitachi.

I've got the 25 volt Hitachi one, it's bullet proof. It will handle chopping in a box if required, saves you getting the transformer and corded drill out.

Bosch 4.5kg 36v sds is the best drill I have ever used, excellent drill chews through bricks on chisel mode.
Then the new dewalt 18v xr sds with chisel function is great it's a lightweight sds drill with chisel for light chisel use.
Also the bosch 36v compact sds is a good choice if you don't need chisel at all.
The makita 18v sds is good but is spoilt by its shape and poor balance it doesn't stand upright and only 1 year warranty.
Out of all four drills the new dewalt is my favourite, as it's lightweight, lithium ion batteries, has chisel function if I need to do some light chasing in, and has the best balance and shape.

just bought a metabo to replace my bosch 36v which i dropped and broke.(
quite impressed and its lighter than the bosch
must say i used the bosch everyday for 4 year and never really missed a beat
